- Maximum): $32.730 - $40.910 - $45.810.

This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. Employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member for the duration of the agreement.

What You Will Do

Provides specific patient care duties and performs unit support activities in the operating room suite.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience as an operating room or surgical technician in a hospital or ambulatory setting within the last 12 months; or graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program (such as CAAHEP, ABHES, etc.) within the last 12 months.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
Essential Functions
  • Communicate updates to surgeon preference card per entity specific processes; comply with all count policies and procedures; provide appropriate report to relieving scrub personnel.
  • Ensure instrument trays match the instrument list provided; account for instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Escalate when incomplete; provide appropriate care and handling of surgical instruments, including loss prevention.
  • Assist in room preparation, obtain necessary supplies, and set up cases per the preference card.
  • Pick cases following physician preference card; adhere to National Patient Safety Goals, including surgical time-out, medication/fluid labeling, hand hygiene, and use of PPE.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of procedures by anticipating needs prior and during each case; identify problems and take appropriate action independently.
  • Participate in teaching and mentoring new employees; role model the Sharp Experience.
  • Assist in achieving department expense per unit of service through judicious use of supplies; identify opportunities for cost containment and improvement of patient care.
  • Work additional or different shifts as requested and where appropriate; assist with new employee orientation and training of students.
  • Utilize downtime effectively: assist other staff, restock rooms, and process instruments.

Work additional or different shifts as requested; assist with new employee orientation and training; fulfill commitments for additional responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Solid understanding of anatomy, aseptic technique, surgical procedures, instruments, sterilization, and OR safety.
  • Skilled in setting up sterile fields, passing instruments, maintaining counts, and anticipating surgeon needs.
  • Excellent communication with the surgical team; responsive to changes; excellent attention to detail; uphold infection prevention standards.
Sign-On Incentive

$5,000 New Hire Sign-On Incentive. Eligibility:
Must have at least one (1) year of surgical tech work experience; cannot be a current or rejoining employee within 12 months of last employment; must remain in original hired FTE status, shift, department, specialty, and job title.

Referral Incentive

Employee Referral Incentive: $2,500. External referrals only. Referring a former employee must be more than 12 months since last employment.
