Pay & Shift Details

Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $61,740 - $70,170 - $90,160. The stated pay scale reflects the range as defined by the collective bargaining agreement between Sharp Health Care and Sharp Professional Nurses Network, United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals, NUHHCE, AFSME, AFL‑CIO. Placement within the range is based on years of RN experience.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care. Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, communicating patient needs and treatment plans effectively. Utilize the nursing process and critical thinking to offer safe, therapeutic, and efficient care, adapting interventions to meet diverse cultural, spiritual and linguistic needs. Document patient care in a manner that reflects comprehensive assessment and problem‑oriented reasoning.

Provide education and support to patients, families and other staff, serving as an advocate and resource for documentation and policy matters.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum one year of clinical RN experience (new graduates will complete the required onboarding program).
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in California required.
  • Valid AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals (AHA BLS Healthcare) certification required.
Essential Functions
  • Plan and coordinate patient care through systematic planning and timely communication with the care team and patients/families.
  • Apply critical thinking and the nursing process to identify risks, adjust care plans, and determine appropriate referrals.
  • Treat patients with complex needs from multi‑system disease or treatment complications, demonstrating accountability for patient outcomes.
  • Document patient care comprehensively, serving as a resource for staff regarding unit‑specific documentation issues.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately, assessing supervision needs and ensuring completion of delegated duties.
  • Question and assess physician orders when necessary, advocate for patients, and provide incidentally needed teaching to staff and families.
  • Promote quality improvement initiatives, comply with regulatory standards, and contribute to unit activities and committees.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Competency in all unit skills and the ability to apply advanced skills as needed.
  • Proficiency in safe use of equipment, medications, and emergency management.
  • Strong organizational skills, prioritization, and capacity to manage acute situations.
  • Effective communication, teaching, and mentorship of peers, students, and floating staff.
  • Experience with quality improvement and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Philanthropic demeanor: demonstrates professional behavior, fosters teamwork, and provides constructive feedback.
Referral and Relocation Incentives
  • Full‑time new hires: $5,000 relocation bonus for moving to San Diego.
  • Internal Sharp employee referrals: $2,500 referral bonus. Referrer must be a current Sharp employee and must list their name on the application.
  • Eligibility criteria: minimum 1 year of related experience; no incentives for rehires/reinstates within 12 months or employees transferring to non‑bonus eligible positions.
