Responsibilities- As a full-time Meter Technician, perform hands-on work in keeping the community’s water flowing accurately and reliably.
- Participate in the ongoing water meter replacement program—installing, inspecting, testing, and upgrading ¾-inch to 2-inch meters to ensure top performance.
- Refresh and reset meter boxes, relocate meters to safer locations, perform minor repairs, and troubleshoot field issues.
- Interact directly with customers—answering questions about water pressure, leaks, and service interruptions with professionalism and care.
- Conduct meter testing in line with industry standards and read residential, commercial, and industrial meters.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and coordinate safe work practices.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality service and continuous improvement.
- Training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school or GED, plus a minimum of one year of experience in maintenance, mechanical, or a technical-related field.
- A valid Class C California driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the district’s vehicle insurance policy.
- Passing the State of California Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Certificate, Grade 2 (D2) test, and obtaining certification within two years from date of hire as a Meter Technician I. Certification must be maintained while in this role.

- Educational reimbursement up to $4,000 annually for qualifying coursework after one year of employment
