Position Description

The Graduate Admissions Liaison and Program Coordinator supports the School of Education's efforts to recruit and retain graduate students while enhancing communication and engagement across its academic community. This role serves as a key point of contact between the School of Education, the Office of Graduate Admissions and University Communications and Marketing.

A strong understanding of California's teacher preparation and credentialing standards is essential for ensuring that applicants are well-matched to their intended programs.

In addition to admissions-related responsibilities, the position assists with School of Education communication and event coordination. The role also supports the Special Education program.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree preferred but applicants with a high potential for success will be considered. A background in Christian education and leadership, marketing and/or higher education admissions; understanding of the California credentialing system and/or K-12 experience is desired.

Work Requirements

● Non-exempt (02), full-time - 40 hours/week, 12 months per year

● This position requires personal attendance at Biola's campus in La Mirada, California.

Essential Duties

● Admissions engagement and advising for prospective and current graduate students

● Recruitment, networking, and outreach

● Marketing & communications

● Program & operational support

● Support Alumni Engagement

Admissions Engagement & Prospective Student Advising

● Manage the application funnel through system knowledge with Slate.

● Cultivate ongoing knowledge of all SOE Program Requirements to communicate effectively with students.

● Provide general advising for prospective graduate students in admissions and program requirements.

● Conduct appointments (in-person and virtual) and field graduate/credential prospective student inquiries (email, phone, events) to ensure a good applicant match for the program.

● Support information sessions, orientations, and prospective graduate student events.

● Facilitate the graduate scholarship application process and committee.

● Provide career and program counseling and spiritual support as appropriate.

● Manage transition application from undergraduate to graduate programs.

Recruitment, Networking & Outreach

● Serve as liaison to the Graduate Admissions and Enrollment Management team to coordinate recruitment strategies and outreach efforts.

● Coordinate and represent SOE at education and graduate fairs.

● Establish and maintain strategic relationships with local and international K-12 school leaders, global mission agencies, and higher education partners.

● Visit local high schools, community colleges and churches to promote SOE programs weekly.

● Coordinate the recruiting calendar, including scheduling and facilitating virtual and in-person events such as information sessions, conferences, professional presentations for a variety of audiences, and Coffee Chats.

Marketing & Communications

● Lead SOE communication initiatives in collaboration with the Dean, Associate Dean, and University Marketing.

● Oversee the SOE Social Media representative.

● Manage creative marketing content.

● Distribute mass emails originating from SOE personnel.

● Update and maintain SOE website.

Special Education Program Support

● Provide administrative support for the Special Education program.

● Serve as designated advisor for the post-baccalaureate Special Education program.
