About the RoleReporting to the Manager, Water Operations, the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Engineering leads a multidisciplinary team of engineers and automation specialists, providing both day‑to‑day and strategic technical leadership across all Water Operations sites.
Responsibilities- Lead engineering and automation resources to ensure safe, compliant, and cost‑effective water treatment across operations.
- Drive facility debottlenecking and optimization efforts and support startup of current treatment facilities.
- Develop and execute practical plans, coordinate execution, and manage competing priorities.
- Translate complex technical issues for operations teams, management, and regulators to support timely decision‐making.
- Ensure effective implementation of the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members to build capability and support succession.
- Collaborate across teams to support the Elk Valley Water Quality Plan, regulatory targets and in‑stream objectives.
- Conduct performance and development assessments to support continuous learning and innovation.
- Promote structured decision‑making through problem framing, information gathering, and risk evaluation.
- Lead development of work scopes and facilitate collaboration with operating sites, environmental functions, and project teams.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in operations and/or process engineering.
- Degree in Engineering preferred (Process, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental or related discipline).
- Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with, or eligible for registration with, Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- Alternative qualifications considered: degree in a related field (e.g., chemistry, environmental science, or applied science); diploma or certification in a relevant technical discipline.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams in complex operating environments.
- Proven ability to influence and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and regulators.
- Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and organizational skills in fast‑paced, dynamic environments.
- Postgraduate degree (Master’s or PhD) considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent.
