Job Overview

The primary responsibility of an Installer Helper is to assist in the installation of slab counters and walls, progressing toward a journeyman level. The role includes learning industry specifications, fabricating and adjusting on the field, and installing all types of undermount sinks.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare substrates to meet industry specifications for slab installations (countertops and walls).
  • Fabricate and adjust on the field: cutting, drilling, gluing, polishing.
  • Install all types of undermount sinks.
  • Install slab counters and walls flat, level, and true to a plane with minimal lippage at seams per MIA standards.
  • Use color‑matching caulk at changes in plane (horizontal to vertical, inside corners to walls).
  • Self‑inspect all work to ensure quality expectations are met; obtain sign‑off and acceptance from the builder when required.
  • Build and maintain interpersonal relationships with coworkers and builders.
Required Competencies, Skills, and Abilities
  • Read and understand work orders, blueprints, and diagrams; verify instructions match provided diagrams and resolve discrepancies before installation.
  • Possess complete product knowledge of adhesives and mortars used for slab installation.
  • Work and adjust to varying job‑site conditions typical in new‑home and commercial construction.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to estimate quantities, takeoffs, time, resources, and materials needed for tasks.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Receive and follow instructions from builder representatives and field supervisors.
Education & Experience
  • Preferred combined experience of 5 years as an apprentice and journeyman installer.
  • Demonstrated capability to work professionally and independently while collaborating in a team environment.
Language Skills
  • English required; bilingual preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Arm‑hand steadiness: keeping hand and arm steady while in motion or in a stationary position.
  • Trunk strength: using abdominal and lower‑back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously.
  • Manual dexterity: quickly moving the hand(s) to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Extent flexibility: bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching with the body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Static strength: exerting maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Dynamic strength: exerting muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time, requiring muscular endurance.
  • Handling and moving objects: using hands and arms to handle, install, position, and move materials.
Work Environment

Job duties are performed primarily at the job site, which may be residential or commercial. Employees will work outdoors on a regular basis, encountering varying weather conditions and temperatures. Noise levels are usually high.

Compensation

$16.90 per hour plus piece‑rate bonus and benefits.
