Position

Medication Nurse – LVN/LPN (Part‑time). Pay Range: $29.00 to $32.00 per hour.

Location:

Ivy Park at La Palma.

Job Overview

The Medication Nurse supervises and assists in the administration of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician. Responsibilities include supervision of the medication room/cart, maintaining medication records, coordinating with pharmacy, and ensuring compliance with company medication policies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform nursing duties as directed, including administering medications and treatments such as injections, suppositories, enemas, and wound‑care medications.
  • Assume Wellness Nurse duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate medication services with residents, pharmacy, and physicians.
  • Order and track medication changes, refills, and deliveries.
  • Prepare medication for distribution per company policy.
  • Assist residents with taking their prescribed medications.
  • Verify medication administration and document any deviations.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential medication records.
  • Keep medicine rooms and carts orderly, clean, and appropriately stocked.
  • Control medication room/cart access at all times.
  • Monitor psychotropic medication use and ensure correlation with physician orders.
  • Participate in narcotic counts and report discrepancies.
  • Communicate with physicians, family members, and vendors as needed.
  • Understand and use common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid California nursing license in good standing.
  • Prefer one (1) year of experience assisting with medications in a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE).
  • Knowledge of assisted‑living and dementia care, or ability to learn.
  • Ability to work with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, decision‑making in stressful situations, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong information processing and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic arithmetic proficiency.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and health screening, including physical and TB tests.
  • Ability or willingness to comply with COVID‑19 or other communicable disease protocols (vaccination, screening, PPE).
