SENIOR RECREATION LEADER: $17.83 to $21.67 per hour

The City of La Palma is currently seeking program personnel. All positions are part-time and at will; work hours and schedules vary according to program and participant needs. Day Camp Counselor will work at La Palma Day Camp and be expected to be available from June 8 - July 31, 2026. Camp hours are from 8:30 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m., successful candidates will be available during the hours of camp to work. Additionally be available for mandatory Camp employee training schedules in the month of May and June. Must have a passion for working with kids ages of campers 6-12 years old.
Application Procedure:
Applicants only need to submit one application to be eligible for consideration for all positions listed below. Candidates will be placed in a position level based on their qualifications.
City of La Palma applications are required and can be obtained online almaca.gov. The Human Resources Office must receive completed applications, resumes, and supplemental questionnaires (if required) by the final filing date and time listed to be eligible for consideration. Facsimiles will not be accepted. Resumes will not, nor will references to a resume, be accepted in lieu of a completed City application.
References to a resume on the application form may disqualify the application. First interviews are tentatively scheduled to be held Monday, March 16 through Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Selection Process: All applications will be screened and those candidates who present the most relevant qualifications and possess the required licenses and certificates for the position will be invited to continue in the selection process. The selection process may include testing and oral interviews.
A Background Investigation, including a criminal record check may be required. All appointments are subject to the successful completion of a post-offer medical exam (including a drug and alcohol screen).

Responsible for planning, organizing, and leading a variety of recreational activities and programs for community members of all ages. This role involves supervising activities, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants, and maintaining recreational facilities and equipment. Positions in this class assist Senior Recreation Leaders.
