Job Description
Center Director – Early Child Care Center – La Plata, MD (Part‑time, $19.50–$22.00 an hour).
This position is for a Site Director at Alpha
BEST Education’s Early Child Care Center. The Center Director creates a safe and nurturing environment for young children to learn and grow while providing leadership and guidance to stakeholders of the child‑care center. The Director ensures the center meets Alpha
BEST and state regulations while building a nurturing environment for our valued families.
- Set targets for each department, help with budgets, and resolve inter‑departmental issues.
- Manage class schedules to staff sessions efficiently and meet company targets.
- Coordinate with caregivers, families, social services agencies, and medical professionals to develop effective care plans.
- Grade student tests and monitor academic progress.
- Report work‑related details (reports, findings, observations) to the Regional Director of Operations.
- Conduct conferences with parents to review progress, adjust academic plans, and renew enrollments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety and regulatory laws, and standards.
- Support Center Director in meeting sales performance targets and operational excellence standards.
- Admit and discharge members.
- Lead the staff and community “Why It Matters” campaign for the Paulding Early Learning Academy.
- Establish and maintain a culture of respect, teamwork, compassion, fun, integrity, and professionalism.
- Schedule staff and serve as the face for the Academy within local business and community organizations.
- Recruit and retain high‑quality teachers and assistant directors.
- Provide constant supervision of children.
- Adhere to policies and procedures, prioritizing child safety.
- Follow licensing regulations and report incidents as required.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and order.
- Assist in emergency situations (evacuation, CPR/First Aid).
- Report suspected child abuse or neglect per mandatory reporter guidelines.
- Stay apprised of food allergies, special needs and other medical conditions.
- Inspect facilities, equipment, and supplies daily.
- Plan and facilitate programs that advance children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.
- Provide diverse materials and resources for exploration and play.
- Teach basic preschool skills (colors, shapes, numbers, letter recognition, hygiene, social skills).
- Collaborate with peers and share program information.
- Encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity.
- Organize activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
- Observe and evaluate children’s performance, behavior, and health.
- Identify and discuss signs of emotional or developmental concerns with the Center Director.
- Create a caring, family‑oriented environment.
- Meet with parents to discuss progress, priorities, and learning strategies.
- Present a friendly, positive learning atmosphere.
- Greet arriving children, assist with change of clothes, and select engaging activities.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Read books to the whole class or small groups.
- Establish clear objectives for lessons and communicate them effectively.
- Maintain an organized, clean space conducive to growth.
- Mentor aides, demonstrate expected behaviors, and support skill development.
- Set high performance standards for self and others and accept responsibility.
- Maintain confidential program and family information.
- Show courtesy, sensitivity, and respect towards all stakeholders.
