Position: Patient Care Technician I (CNA) | Orthopedic & Medical Surgical Unit | Nights

Job Requirements

Join the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center as a Patient Care Technician I (CNA)! This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute care environment. In this role, you will provide direct patient care, assist with activities of daily living, obtain vital signs, perform EKGs, and support the nursing team in delivering safe, high-quality care for post-operative orthopedic and medical-surgical patients.

This role is ideal for a compassionate, dependable professional who enjoys working collaboratively, thrives in a team-oriented environment, and is committed to providing exceptional care to patients recovering from orthopedic, joint replacement, and other surgical procedures.

Schedule

3 x 12-Hour Shifts | 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Every Other Weekend & Rotating Holidays Required

Key Responsibilities

The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.

  • Assist nursing staff with direct patient care activities, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with mobility, ambulation, and supporting activities of daily living.
  • Assist with post-operative patient care, including safe patient transfers, positioning, mobility, and recovery support.
  • Collaborate with nurses, clinical coordinators, and nurse managers to implement patient care plans and ensure continuity of care.
  • Accurately document patient information and promptly report changes in patient condition to the appropriate nursing personnel.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient care environment in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and room preparation.
  • Support clinical coordinators in coordinating patient care activities and managing workflow within the unit.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Licensure & Experience
  • Valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), in good standing with the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON), required.
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a hospital or comparable clinical setting, required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills required.

Compensation
  • Pay Range: $17.68 - $24.76 per hour.
