American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an active MD or Compact RN license and at least 1-2 years of ED experience.
Details- Fast-paced combined adult/pediatric general Emergency Department within a community hospital
- Non-trauma ED treating all age ranges from infant to geriatric with all diagnoses
- Average daily census of 130 with 47 beds and a 1:4 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30), with 36/48-hour options
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty, with travelers prioritized to float first
- No pre-scheduled on-call requirements
- Epic charting system experience preferred
- Active MD or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI (AHA only for BLS/ACLS/PALS)
- CPI certification via Calm Every Storm online vendor required
- 2 years of ED experience required, though 1 year with strong skills may be considered
- Community hospital ED experience required
- Experience managing pediatric and adult emergency diagnoses including abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, seizures, and psychiatric emergencies
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and blood product administration required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition required
- Experience with triage and isolation precautions/PPE required
- Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of acute and chronic conditions for patients of all ages
- Manage high-acuity cases including CVA, multisystem organ dysfunction, and psychiatric emergencies
- Administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation as needed
- Preferred skills include intubation, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, and splinting/orthopedic care
- First-time travelers with strong ER experience will be considered
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
- Returning staff must have a 12-month break before returning as a traveler, while returning travelers require a 6-month break
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, with additional conditions if more than 4 consecutive days are requested
- One major holiday off during the winter season may be permitted depending on unit availability
- Extensions are typically limited to one contract and one extension before requiring a 6-month break from the facility
