About The Role
The HR Generalist will support the Haynes International LaPorte, Indiana operations onsite in a wide variety of responsibilities throughout the entire employee lifecycle. This includes talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, training, health, and safety initiatives. This person will function as the first point of contact for all employee matters, questions, and concerns and understands when to elevate employee issues to the HR Manager as appropriate.
RoleQualifications (Required) & (Preferred)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business discipline (P), OR 3 plus years’ experience in Human Resources (P)
Experience: Three (3) years in Human Resources (P), Employee Training and Development (P)
Areas of Knowledge: Employee and Training Development, HRIS, LMS, Employee Relations, Strong HR generalist knowledge in all aspects of Human Resources (R)
Skills: Strong Computer Skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
Organized, Ability to Multi-Task, Strong verbal, and written communication skills;
Project Management;
Exceptional Decision-Making Skills
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions and concerns; provide guidance to managers and employees on employee relations issues, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolutions
- Support HR Manager with recruitment and onboarding processes
- Support performance management programs, including goal setting and evaluations
- Drive engagement initiatives and foster a positive workplace culture
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Maintain accurate HR records and prepare reports as needed
- Support workplace investigations with discretion and expertise, providing and maintaining necessary documentation. Commitment to provide a timely, objective resolution and follow-through to all parties to ensure proper actions
- Leverage knowledge of leave of absence laws, responsibilities, and regulations (including FMLA, PFML), in partnering with Leave Specialist to support employee leave needs
- Responsible for maintaining employee files, training, and safety records
- Collaborate with management and department leaders to assess training needs and identify skill gaps within the workforce
- Facilitate training sessions for new hires and provide ongoing training for existing employees to ensure competency in their roles
- Utilize various training methods, including hands‑on demonstrations, classroom instruction, and virtual training
- Manage learning activities within the Learning Management System, including scheduling sessions, tracking attendance, and monitoring learner progress
- Maintains confidentiality regarding sensitive information and embodies professionalism and ethics in his/her work in all employment and HR related matters
