About The Role

The Centrifuge Process Technician works with the Hydrocarbon Recovery Facility’s Team. Daily operations of the Centrifuge process team coordinate with the Process Operator Lead.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, procedures and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Performs all job related functions in a Safe, Honest, Ethical and Compliant fashion. Maintains a “Safety First” approach to all tasks and understands that operating safely is the most important thing we do.
  • Engages in strenuous physical labor including lifting, pulling heavy objects, standing for long periods, climbing and working from ladders and scaffolds.
  • Works in potentially hazardous atmospheres and locations where exposure to hazardous substances may be encountered to include petroleum hydrocarbons, benzene and hydrogen sulfide.
  • Understands the inner workings of a centrifuge machine and is able to maintain it.
  • Start-up, Shutdown, and operate the CSU Process.
  • Operate plant equipment, machinery, processes, perform permit sampling, laboratory tests, monitor meters and gauges, keep a log of plant operations and related records.
  • Install, repair, and maintain or rebuild equipment and machinery relative to the physical plant and its processes including pumps, motors and variable frequency drives.
  • Operate the vacuum truck pump.
  • Shift roll-off boxes as needed in the plant.
  • Troubleshoot centrifuge issues and monitor flow volumes to maximize oil separation and optimize solids content.
  • Follow all safety and compliance rules and regulations.
  • Wear and properly use a variety of PPE including Levels A, B, C & D personal protective equipment (face, hand, foot and eye protection) as well as respiratory protection equipment.
  • Coordinate with EH&S, HR and Training to ensure training and drug screens are current.
  • Complete required paperwork including Safe Work Permits, Inspection Forms, JSAs and Safety Audits.
  • Be available for on-call duty when emergencies or special situations arise.
  • Be a team player and lead by example.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Reworld management as required by business.
Job Qualifications / Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in plant work and operating a centrifuge, preferably a horizontal decanter type.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and manufacturers to troubleshoot machine problems.
  • Adequate math skills for calculating machine through puts, volume calculations, data analysis, recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for generating operational matrices.
  • Adequate knowledge of tools, equipment and terminology used in installation, rebuilding, maintenance and repair of centrifuge and auxiliary equipment.
  • Unload/Load tanker trailers.
  • Skill in operation and repair of pumps, valves, and related mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Skill in operation and programming of PLC instruments and panels.
  • Lab treatment testing for qualification of products.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to communicate safety and efficiency requirements.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing operating conditions.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • Able to work shift duties as required.
Skill Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Verifiable experience in automated plant operations.
Training Requirements
  • Pass a Respirator Fit test.
  • Pass a Basic Plus safety class at HASC (in English).
  • Pass a 40 hour HAZWOPER training class.
  • Complete OSHA 10 hour training.
  • PPE Training.
  • Hazard Communication.
  • SWPPP training.
  • Spill Prevention Plan training.
  • Pass “B” (Basic-Outside) Operator training requirements.
  • Pass “A” (Advanced-Control) Operator training requirements.
  • Other training as necessary for the tasks at hand.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to work for periods up to 12 hours in varying outside climates.
  • Requires standing, walking, carrying, stooping, crouching, sitting, grasping and reaching.
  • May require lifting, pulling and/or pushing up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to pass Hazwoper physical.
