Job DescriptionPosition: Teacher, Special Education - SAIL (Social Academic and Interpersonal Learning)
Location: La Porte Elementary
Job Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas Teacher's Certificate and Special Education EC‑12
- Alternative Certification Program applicants must have passed content exam(s) and hold a Statement of Eligibility (SOE) to be eligible for employment
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Provide students with Autism Spectrum Disorders appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
- Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
- Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program based on the SILC model and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect strategies designed specifically for students with ASD.
- Collaborate with District Specialists in creating functional communication systems for non‑verbal students.
- Work cooperatively with general education teachers to modify curricula as needed for students with ASD according to guidelines established by IEP.
- Attend ARD meetings and develop and implement appropriate IEP’s for students with ASD.
- Conduct assessment of students to determine skill level for instructional activities.
- Maintain open communication with campus administrators and district special programs staff.
- Other duties required by campus/district supervisors reflective of district policies and procedures.
- $61,000 for beginning teacher with 0 years experience (based on 2024‑2025 Compensation Plan)
- $1,000 Master's Degree addenda
- Additional $1,000 Doctorate Degree addenda
- $3,000 Stipend – SAIL Teacher
Pay Grade: Certified Instructional, 10 Duty Months

The District contributes $400/month to the cost of employee‑only health insurance, which is $175/month greater than the state required amount of $225/month.
