Work with school faculty and staff, students, parents, and community to plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at school assigned. Counsel students to fully develop each student's academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special population students.
Job Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in guidance counseling
- Valid Texas SBEC Counselor's certificate

Major Responsibilities
Individual Planning
Create permanent records for new students; obtain and post grades and records from previous schools.Maintain permanent cumulative student records in accordance with state and district requirements, including transcripts, academic history, test records, and demographic data.Maintain records of enrollments and withdrawals, including documentation of reasons for withdrawal.Create and ensure all students have an up-to-date academic schedule that aligns with needed graduation requirements utilizing the current Student Management System.Consider development, interest, academic performance, graduation requirements, and assessment outcomes in goal setting with students during one-on-one academic conferences and throughout the year.Implement the individual student planning component by guiding individuals and groups of students, and parents or guardians, through the development of educational, career, personal, or social plans.Maintain student documentation and follow procedures in accordance with the LPISD Credit Verification Process to ensure all graduation requirements are met.Participate and evaluate information from the annual Senior Audit.Manage grade submission and verification for the campus.Support students and parents/guardians with the college application process as needed. This may include writing letters of recommendation, and completing school reports, and mid-year reports in a timely manner.Support and communicate with students and parents regarding secondary courses, programs, and opportunities during the annual LPISD course selection process.Collaborate with intermediate campuses to ensure a successful transition which may include course selection presentations, course selection materials, and program application processes.Support the course selection process and attend any updates and or trainings needed for course selection.Collaborate with campus principal to create and maintain master schedule.Ensure all students and parents/guardians are aware of the LPISD promotion standards and notify students and parents/guardians of opportunities for success in summer school.Work with students and parents/guardians who are new to LPISD to ensure school records are evaluated in order to determine appropriate course placement and to create a credit evaluation for LPISD transcript creation.Collaborate with teachers, students, and parents/guardians during the four-year planning process.Serve as liaison for San Jacinto College for partnerships and pathways for students.Serve as a member of the campus multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) in order to advocate for the needs of students.Responsive Services
Intervene on behalf of students whose immediate personal concerns or circumstances put their continued educational, personal, and social development at risk.Consult with campus staff and parents/guardians regarding students who need continuing support toward their educational, personal, and social development.Maintain attendance records for the campus to provide responsive actions and interventions for students.Provide short-term skills-based individual counseling services to students.Identify and provide community resources for stakeholders as needed.Support the campus during a critical incident while following the district's critical incident response team protocol.Conduct Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (or LPISD approved assessment tool) to procedures established by the Counseling and Student Services Department.Collaborate with DAEP/JJAEP campus for scheduling purposes and support students when returning to campus from DAEP.System Support
Ensure all counseling-related service interactions with students (i.e., guidance lessons, groups, parent conferences, consultations, and meetings) are entered into the district-approved tracking system.Utilize district-developed materials to train campus staff regarding counseling issues such as Child Abuse, Maltreatment, Suicide Prevention, and Trauma-Informed/Sensitive Care.Assist other campus staff in making referrals to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.Review and verify acknowledgment of the district Comprehensive School Counseling Program document which highlights the manner in which your campus follows the four components of The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.Support the campus-specific Comprehensive School Counseling Program document highlighting the…
