PRIMARY
PURPOSE:
Assist the teacher(s) in the preparation and management of learning activities and administrative requirements. Assist in the implementation of instructional programs to support students with special needs, including self-help, behavior management, job skills and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher to support students in district programs such as BSP, ECSE, FOCUS, Bulldog Bridge and SAIL.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid SBEC Educational Aide certificate
- Associate's Degree or 48 or more college hours or NCLB Para Educator Certification issued by San Jacinto College or other local educational entity
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Ability and demonstrated aptitude in the instruction of students in assigned area
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Knowledge of instructional strategies designed specifically for children with special needs preferred
- Physically capable of meeting all performance responsibilities required with students, including stooping, bending and lifting.
- Ability to communicate with job site supervisors to ensure student success while at work.

The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
Pay Grade:
Paraprofessional, Pay Grade 3, 187 Days
Minimum: $14.31
Midpoint: $17.24
Compensation based on job-like experience
