Position Summary

The Wind AIIR Tech I, II, III are responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of wind turbines and related equipment. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of wind energy assets through mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical service work. Technicians work at significant heights and in a variety of weather conditions while upholding strict safety and quality standards.

Acuren is recruiting for experienced travelling Level I, II & III Wind Turbine Blade Technicians to support projects throughout Canada for our upcoming 2026 season!

Position Details
  • Rotation/Shift: 6 weeks on 1 week off.
  • Start Date:

    Approximately Apr 1, 2026.
  • Rate: $22.00 - $45.00 (Payrates are based upon level of experience and WIND Tech Level/Certifications)
  • Location & Travel:
    Remote locations throughout Canada, Flights provided.
  • Duration:
    April 2026 to December 2026.
Responsibilities
  • Perform assembly, commissioning, testing, repair, and maintenance on wind turbine generators and related equipment at wind farm.
  • Conduct and review safety analyses of potential electrical and mechanical hazards in the wind turbines, switch room, and the O&M building.
  • Support Root Cause Analyses to assist in determining equipment failure and the reasons for failures when they occur.
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and/or retrofit low to medium-voltage electrical, mechanical or hydraulic components and equipment associated with wind turbines and the wind farm.
  • Safely perform rudimentary troubleshooting of wind turbine generators to include testing for the presence of low voltage (600 volts or less).
  • Perform minor cosmetic repair in the paint and the gel coat (less than 1 meter squared) area.
  • Laminate repair blade gels (less than 1 meter squared).
  • Replace core material in sandwich construction (less than 20 x 25 cm).
  • Repair damage and delamination of leading and trailing edge (less than 150 cm length).
  • Measure function and replace lightning receptor screw.
  • Complete resets on individual turbines.
  • Complete work orders, CI's for maintenances, inspection forms, etc.
  • Turbine lubrication as required.
  • Hydraulic adjustments as needed.
  • Accurately account for time and materials expended in performance of the job function.
  • Report for work at the time and location specified.
  • Operate service equipment in a safe and manner and maintain records for the same.
  • Adhere to OSHA and company-specific safety protocols.
  • Report on work status as directed.
  • Other work duties as assigned.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical skillset and ability to quickly pickup new mechanical concepts.
  • Ability to climb towers daily/work at heights.
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform proper reporting minimum of one year of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Has technical skills and knowledge to understand advanced drawings and blueprints.
  • High aptitude for details and the ability to be self-motivated and self-driven.
  • Able to inspect and report uncomplicated surface damage.
  • Minimum 1-5 years of wind industry experience.
  • Minimum 1-5 years of blade inspection and repair experience.
  • Familiarity and comfort using mechanized hand tools.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Certifications:

  • GWO Certifications (Basic Safety, Working at Heights, First Aid, Manual Handling).
  • BST.
  • ART.
  • Valid driver's license with clean drivers abstract.
  • First Aid - CPR/AED.

Assets (Preferred):

  • IRATA (Level 1-3) Rope Access Certification.
  • SGRE Blade

    D.
  • BTT.
  • GWO Blade Repair.
  • Confined Space.

Education:

  • High school education or the equivalent. College degree or Wind Energy Certification preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years' experience.
  • Ability to travel to domestic and international locations for work and/or training for extended periods of time.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and rotating shifts as required.
  • Training/certificate requirements: GWO BST, ART, BTT (or authorized equivalency), Confined Space Awareness, NFPA
