In this role, you will lead the design and installation of long-term projects to overcome process constraints, resolve quality and reliability issues and comply with environmental regulations. This will include defining scope, providing front-end-loading and incorporating process knowledge during engineering phases while working with the site projects group. This role will also use benchmarking data to drive gap closure initiatives (e.g. variable costs) to maintain a competitive advantage.

Day in the Life
  • Leads capital, expense and special project scope development, execution, support and training
  • Leads Management of Change process (MOC/PSSR)
  • Provides technical expertise in process safety including PHAs, CDHA, PSVs, and other PSM activities in the area
  • Provides expertise regarding the product quality, including the product wheel and plant trials
  • Provides technical expertise during troubleshooting, turnarounds, startups, shutdowns, and other non-routine unit activities
  • Analyzes complex operating issues and provides documented recommendations to improve performance
  • Advocates and drives improvements in safety and environmental performance
  • Participates on cross-functional improvement teams within the site
  • Participates regularly in the Gas Phase PE Network Meetings with Global Process Engineering
  • Participates in the unit’s VEP Boardwalks and provides guidance for initiative’s progression
  • Maintains strong safety and environmental compliance focus
  • Contributes in a team environment and establishes work relationships with onsite and global resources to achieve results
  • Balances day-to-day operational priorities with long term strategic objectives to ensure alignment with company goals
  • Supports gap closure and continuous improvement activities by providing technical expertise, engineering calculations, variable costs analysis and justifications for new projects
  • Collaborates with operations to identify new opportunities to remove constraints to maximize on stream time and profitability while ensuring safe, environmentally compliant, reliable operation
  • Coach less experienced engineers, as well as provide technical training to others
You Bring This Value

The Ideal Candidate Should Have
  • B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the refining, petrochemical, or chemical process industries, with polymers experience preferred.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent chemical processes knowledge
  • Innovative thinking to solve complex problems
  • Knowledgeable in chemical and process engineering fundamentals
  • Knowledgeable in the development of Project Design Documents and related economics
