Reimagine What's PossibleThe Analytical Specialist is an exciting role supporting analytical instrumentation across Air Products' gas production and distribution facilities in the Americas. This role will provide technical expertise in the following areas related to analytical instrument technology: performance testing, installation, commissioning, maintenance, solving, and obsolescence planning. A keen focus on safety is very relevant in this role. It is imperative that Air Product's diversity, inclusion, and safety culture is accurately represented.
This position will be based in La Porte, TX and will primarily support HYCO and SMR facilities.

- Support analytical requests from operating facilities. Drive analytical strategy through consensus building with associated stakeholders.
- Define analytical technology selection, sample conditioning system design, installation, and maintenance for the analytical projects team.
- Work with analytical instrumentation vendors on identifying appropriate analytical instrumentation for operating facilities and test innovative analytical technologies that have low total cost of ownership.
- Work closely with the process engineering team to optimize plant processes.
- Collaborate with the quality team to enable vetting of suppliers, external labs and analytical service providers. Help with issues on product quality and define analytical solutions to meet specific customer needs.
- Build and maintain significant relationships with key internal and external customers and work well in multi-functional teams across the Americas.
- Demonstrate compliance with company policies and follow company work processes, particularly with regards to documenting work.
- Up to 25% travel may be required throughout the Americas region.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, or a scientific field required. Master's degree preferred.
- 5-10 years' experience with analytical instrumentation in the Specialty Gas, Industrial Gas, or Oil and Gas industries.
- Possess experience with gas analysis using various detection techniques: spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, electrochemical sensors, and paramagnetic sensors. Experience with method development, gas sampling systems and process control systems is preferred.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and excellent organizational skills.
