Analytical Specialist
The Analytical Specialist is an exciting role supporting analytical instrumentation across Air Products’ gas production and distribution facilities in the Americas. This role will provide technical expertise in performance testing, installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and obsolescence planning, with a keen focus on safety. This position will be based in La Porte, TX and will primarily support HYCO and SMR facilities.
Responsibilities- Support analytical requests from operating facilities and drive analytical strategy through stakeholder consensus.
- Define analytical technology selection, sample conditioning system design, installation, and maintenance for the analytical projects team.
- Work with analytical instrumentation vendors to identify appropriate instrumentation for operating facilities and test innovative analytical technologies that have low total cost of ownership.
- Collaborate closely with the process engineering team to optimize plant processes.
- Collaborate with the quality team to vet suppliers, external labs and analytical service providers; resolve product quality issues and define analytical solutions to meet customer needs.
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external customers and work well in multi-functional teams across the Americas.
- Demonstrate compliance with company policies and follow work processes, particularly regarding documentation.
- Up to 25% travel may be required throughout the Americas region.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, or a scientific field required;
Master’s degree preferred. - 5-10 years’ experience with analytical instrumentation in the Specialty Gas, Industrial Gas, or Oil and Gas industries.
- Experience with gas analysis using spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, electrochemical sensors, and paramagnetic sensors, and method development, gas sampling systems, and process control systems is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
