Capex Project Manager
The Capex Project Manager will prepare, lead, execute and deliver best‑in‑class capex projects to add value to Nouryon.
Responsibilities- Manage a site’s capex portfolio, including both execution and forecasting.
- Prepare, lead, execute and deliver capex projects safely within defined scope, schedule, budget and expected quality.
- Select, lead and develop a multifunctional project team.
- Apply and adhere to Nouryon’s project management methodology (NPM).
- Ensure compliance with company directives.
- Take ownership, bringing value to the business with accountability for the capex part of an assigned capital investment.
- Act as facilitator/technical contributor in the Initiation and Study Phase (FEL‑1 and FEL‑2), ensuring endorsement and approval of the handed‑over engineering package by the business/site representative.
- Ensure completeness and quality of the appropriate deliverables for the current stage‑gate of the project.
- Generate the project’s Appropriation Request (AR) for each stage‑gate and obtain sign‑off for execution.
- Ensure project safety, including meeting process safety requirements and safely executing design/construction activities.
- Bachelor, master or doctorate level qualification in mechanical, civil, electrical engineering or related disciplines.
- Relevant experience in the chemical or petrochemical industry is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project management.
- Strong strategic and conceptual skills with the ability to execute and follow through.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement of processes, policies and standards.
- Leadership skills demonstrated by showing presence in the room.
- Inclusive teamwork to create a unified voice and achieve collective objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: influencing, persuading, entrepreneurship, results‑oriented, negotiation, problem‑solving.
- Good structured and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills in English, both verbal and written.

- Ability to impart knowledge and learn quickly.
- Team player who contributes to reaching maximum project performance.
- Proficiency with SAP project management module.
- Produces Gantt chart project schedules with critical path identified.
- Ability to develop appropriate stage‑gate estimates.
- Conduct project risk and contingency analysis.
- Strong scope change management.
- Understanding of common chemical processes, equipment and instrumentation.
