Production Engineer – Battleground Manufacturing Complex, La Porte, TX

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Provide daily engineering support to ensure stable, compliant, and efficient operations of chemical manufacturing units.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for Operations and Maintenance support, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.
  • Account for understanding and practicing INEOS 20 Principles and cascade them throughout the work group.
  • Meet all SHE objectives and comply with governmental laws and policies for the manufacturing site.
  • Identify, assess, review, and manage process hazards; prioritize safety over production and maintain protective systems.
  • Develop operating, maintenance, and CAPEX strategies to drive asset integrity and environmental compliance.
  • Track key process indicators (KPIs) such as yield, energy efficiency, uptime, and quality metrics; identify performance gaps and implement data‑driven improvements.
  • Collaborate with process control engineers to maintain and improve plant automation.
  • Provide real‑time troubleshooting for equipment and process issues impacting safety, quality, or throughput.
  • Participate in daily or weekly production meetings and communicate technical priorities clearly.
  • Ensure compliance with process safety management (PSM) requirements; participate in PHAs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, and risk assessments.
  • Own and complete safety‑related action items, including PSM investigations, audit findings, and MOC tasks.
  • Support safe execution of operations, maintenance activities, and startup/shutdown procedures.
  • Initiate and own unit MOCs; lead MOC documentation and implementation.
  • Monitor environmental KPIs (emissions, flaring, spills, wastewater quality) and ensure daily operations remain within permitted limits.
  • Respond to and investigate environmental deviations, excursions, or near‑miss conditions; update SOPs related to environmental controls.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Reliability teams to define priorities for equipment repairs or upgrades and conduct root‑cause investigations for process upsets.
  • Support outage readiness processes and continuous improvement initiatives, including small capital or low‑cost projects that enhance safety, capacity, reliability, or energy performance.
  • Assist in commissioning, startup, and performance testing of new installations or modifications; contribute to Technical group led trials and experiments.
  • Communicate with Supply Chain on production capability, inventory levels, and scheduling needs; provide operational insights that impact customer orders and product availability.
  • Coordinate logistics constraints, tank levels, and loading schedules; advise on feedstock constraints affecting unit rates and product slates.
  • Provide technical input to STOP discussions and support optimization of feedstock‑to‑product value chains.
Skills & Knowledge Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in process engineering, production/operations support, or plant engineering in chemical manufacturing or refinery.
  • Strong drive, sense of urgency, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to work across all disciplines and organizational levels in a persuasive and credible manner.
  • Innovative and technically astute; understands project delivery and business objectives.
  • Environmentally aware; considers competitive environment and technology options.
  • Sound technical knowledge of polyolefin process technologies.
  • Project‑mode working and ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Strong work ethic; dedicated to meeting deadlines, even if it requires extended hours.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and interface‑management skills.
  • Effective communication with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and occasional shift work for training, troubleshooting, or commissioning.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Must operate safely in environments with large rotating equipment and hazardous chemicals.
  • Must withstand high temperatures and humidity outdoors; wear appropriate protective equipment.
  • Must tolerate loud or dusty environments and exposure to fumes or vibrations.
  • Must climb ladder heights up to 35 feet and stairs up to 150 feet.
  • Must be able to lift a 50‑lb object.
  • Must work at a desk and operate standard office equipment.
