Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation. Join our global team to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society.

About

The Role

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for researching, planning, designing, and developing mechanical products and systems. This includes instruments, controls, engines, and machines used in energy production, transmission, and measurement. This job profile is intended for early‑career professionals who apply broad theoretical knowledge and require the ability to investigate and analyze problems. Solutions are typically discussed/verified with a more senior member. Sulzer is offering a unique opportunity for early‑career engineers to jumpstart their professional journey through a dynamic two‑year rotational program.

This immersive experience provides direct exposure across key departments within Sulzer’s Services Division, with the goal of permanent department placement upon program completion.

Position Summary

The Rotational Engineer program is a two‑year rotational program designed to attract, develop, and retain high‑potential, transformative engineers through best‑in‑industry rotational experience and professional development. This program supports the Services Division in the Americas by leading hands‑on and strategic initiatives that enhance commercial and operational excellence. Acts as a bridge between engineering, commercial, and operations – designing and implementing shop‑floor solutions, automation, supporting technical documentation, collaborating with vendors, and driving continuous improvement.

Participants will rotate through four specialized areas, focusing on sales, operations, or engineering, each lasting six months:

  • Steam Turbines and Compressor:
Overhauls and assembly, rotor and component repairs, reverse engineering and parts manufacturing, performance rerates, performance qualification tests, custom engineering solutions, and field service
  • Gas Turbine (Industrial and Aeroderivative):
Overhauls and assembly, rotor and component repairs, metallurgical evaluations, performance testing, and field service
  • Pumps:
Overhauls and assembly, rotor and component repairs, reverse engineering and parts manufacturing, performance optimization, retrofits, hydraulic testing, and field service
  • Electro‑Mechanical Services:
Overhauls and repairs of motors and generators, generator rewind, high voltage coil manufacturing, engineering services, and field services
