CAD Designer I
Location: La Porte, TX (Hybrid)
Department: Operations

Swagelok Southeast Texas is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer I to support our Assembly Solutions team. This role is responsible for developing 3D models, layouts, and manufacturing drawings using Solid Works for custom fluid system solutions and packaged equipment projects.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using Solid Works.
- Coordinate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and design intent.
- Interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layouts, process flow diagrams, specifications, and bills of material.
- Revise existing drawings and models based on customer and internal feedback.
- Develop manufacturing drawings for sheet metal, weldments, and machined components.
- Generate layouts, section views, exploded assemblies, dimensions, callouts, and bills of material.
- Support the creation and revision of electronic P&IDs.
- Participate in design and model reviews while following department standards and processes.
- Maintain drawing accuracy, consistency, and document control requirements.
- Support a collaborative, customer-focused, and continuous improvement culture.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or technical certification in CAD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- 0–2 years of CAD or drafting experience.
- Solid Works experience preferred.
- Experience with tube routing, sheet metal design, weldments, and design configurations is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
- Basic understanding of 3D modeling, assemblies, and technical drawings.
- Ability to interpret engineering and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical design skills in a fast-paced environment.
