The OpportunityThe Supply Chain Manager is responsible for procurement, materials planning, and inventory management in support of our Field Service and Parts businesses. The position oversees direct material planning, supplier coordination, inventory control, and production planning to ensure alignment between supply and demand and timely material availability. Working closely with Operations, Logistics, Sales, and Finance, this role helps translate operational requirements into effective procurement and planning execution.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on operational procurement experience and familiarity with materials and fabrication processes used in the turbo machinery industry, with a focus on driving cost control, supplier performance, and continuous improvement across the supply chain.
- Lead the Field Service procurement team.
- Drive strategic purchasing to support a multi-site operation.
- Own and drive day-to-day supplier cost, quality, delivery, and inventory issues.
- Lead and perform all production and material planning activities from raw materials to finished goods.
- Develop and implement methods to fully utilize the ERP capabilities across operational functions.
- Maintain and follow purchasing procedures to conform to ISO standards.
- Execute material requisitions to support demands, reorder point, safety stock, blanket agreements and manually derived requirements.
- Advise management of market conditions and supplier base activity, which could affect pricing and/or delivery.
- Lead and facilitate supplier discussions to support material flow, conformance to specifications, projects, and escalations.
- Lead and support contract creation and execution for key supplier relationships.
- Monitor supplier performance (quality and delivery), identify improvement opportunities, and drive escalations.
- Identify and develop new sources of supply when existing sources are inadequate.
- Support month-end close activities, including inventory troubleshooting and adjustments.
- Actively participate with key internal customers in sales, operations, and inventory planning process.
- Process select purchase requisitions as assigned.
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or another related field is preferred.
- At least four (4) years of experience in Materials/Supply Chain Management.
- Working knowledge of materials planning, purchasing, and supplier management best practices.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to reduce costs and improve fulfillment cycle times.
- Experience with purchase order processing and inventory management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong ERP system experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information and facilitate team discussions.
- Collaborative professional with a high level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
- Solid understanding of general procurement practices, with foundational knowledge of accounting and finance principles.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally to resolve issues and drive timely solutions.
- Familiarity with Lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices.
