Process Technician I
The Process Technician I, with supervision, is responsible for carrying out a variety of tasks related to chemical production in both batch and continuous process chemical plants. This role requires precise observation and accurate data recording throughout all stages of the production process. Operating with supervision, the technician should be able to demonstrate technical and interpersonal skills while learning core operating procedures.
Additionally, the technician may be tasked with supporting other plant activities and participating in team initiatives outside their primary classification.
With supervision, perform a variety of assignments to control processes and equipment using both manual and DCS (Fox Boro) methods. Weigh, measure, and charge a wide variety of chemicals into processing equipment while adhering to operational instructions and safety procedures. Assist with adjustments to operating equipment, including tools for flanges, valve cleaning, fitting configurations, and bolt tightening to maintain process flow.
Support maintenance activities, including blinding/unblinding process equipment and disassembling/reassembling flanged or threaded fittings for inspections, cleaning, or decontamination. Monitor and accurately record process data from instrumentation systems and perform required inspections to ensure compliance. Clean all processing equipment according to operating instructions, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, special cleaning, and equipment staging to support chemical operations.
Carry out custodial duties within chemical processing areas, buildings, and grounds, with attention to detailed cleaning procedures in finished product areas. Collaborate with personnel across various disciplines to support process efficiency and organizational goals.
May perform other duties as assigned.
RequirementsEducation and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Practical Requirements:
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to follow written procedures. Completes all entry-level qualifications (GLCS/Alloy, RX-750, DRY-793, CNT-790, FL-796, FL-771/FL-751). Ability to safely perform basic process operations under supervision.
Competencies/
Skills:
Must be able to achieve proficiency in operation, adjustment and cleaning of all required chemical processing equipment. Must have good mechanical aptitude and be able to read, understand, and perform basic mathematical calculations. Follow instructions and procedures to a high degree of accuracy and achievable performance in a chemical-manufacturing environment. Ability to safely perform basic process operations under supervision.

Working Conditions:
Workplace includes areas where chemical materials are encountered. May involve exposure to a variety of chemical environments and high noise areas. Must have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety. May be required to use a variety of personal protective equipment.
