Forklift Operator - Packaging Job La Porte area,Texas USA,Manufacturing / Production

Description

Works in conjunction with the Packaging Supervisor and/or Packaging Manager to ensure the correct information is displayed on printed bags & labels as it appears on Packaging work orders. Responsible for all assigned activities associated with housekeeping, inventory control, and warehousing of materials. Effectively manages time to meet set targets and deadlines. Essential duties and responsibilities are described below. Other duties may be assigned.

Required

Competencies (Essential Duties and Responsibilities)

Follow all safety, environmental and operational procedures (Wearing appropriate PPE in work areas, use of seatbelts, eye protection, gloves while handling propane canisters & ear protection when in noisy areas).

Responsible for maintaining and returning all assigned electronic equipment on a daily basis (Tablets, scanners, radios, etc.).

Complete pre-shift inspection of forklift and report any damage or required maintenance.

Responsible for recording every 5th full pallet weight to ensure quality compliance and report any weight discrepancies +/- the target parameters.

Report any issues concerning bag markings, labels, material leakage or damages to a supervisor/manager.

Responsible for completing & submitting all paperwork associated with inventory control (e.g., Warehouse discrepancy report, Relocation change forms).

Notify a member of management and/or supervision of any accidents, incidents or near misses immediately.

Other Duties

Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is the responsibility of all warehouse staff. This includes but is not limited to standard housekeeping, sweeping and trash removal.

Work Schedule – Production

Monthly shift rotation (Day & night) is required.
Work hours – Day Shift (06:00 – 18:00)/Night Shift (18:00 – 06:00)

Education and/or Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent.
2 years of relevant forklift operating experience.
Excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written, are required.
The ability to speak and communicate effectively in Spanish is acceptable as well.
Demonstrate the ability to prioritize assigned responsibilities, investigate and resolve problems and handle several projects at once.

Additional Training Required

Each forklift driver must complete the Packwell approved forklift certification program (Certification must be renewed every 3 years).

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit (approx. 75%) and stand or walk (25%). The employee is required to lift and/or move materials weighing up to 25 kg.
