Slitter Operator (Open)

• Operate routine production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications provided.
• Carry out routine activities to produce the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
• Measure finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
• Maintain logs and records of units produced and report any errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
• Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; perform basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area; follow safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Set up, adjust, and operate slitting machine to slit paper tubes into a prescribed number of bodies.
• Transport tubes from winder to slitter when necessary.
• Assist Band Press Operator in die changes of bottom crimp press.
• Check and follow specifications of the production order.
• Set slitting blades to required length of drum body height and adjust for relation with the slitter mandrel.
• Set rolls for drum diameter and adjust back plate for slitting.
• Make simple adjustments to indexing and upending equipment to accommodate various drum lengths.
• Position tubes on mandrel actuating machine with push button controls; slide drum bodies from mandrel onto upending equipment.
• Visually inspect cut edges of slit bodies to determine when cutter blades should be replaced or ground.
• Remove blades as required and check drum bodies periodically for correct length.
• Report to Supervisor any improper functioning of the machine or unsatisfactory quality of the product.
• Maintain production and spoilage records as required.
• Turn off machine and conveying equipment when leaving work area.
• Perform all other detailed duties inherent in the job that are not listed among the principal duties outlined above.
• Perform light maintenance requirements.
• Meet production standards set for this line.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner per the JSA.

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and up to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Willingness to follow directions and work well in a team.
• Ability to interpret and translate job specifications for production machinery.
• Fundamental understanding of or ability to quickly learn production equipment.

Compensation Range: $23.05 per hour. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
