JobOverview
Gasket Operator (Open). The role involves operating routine production machinery, mixing compounds, and ensuring quality compliance of rubber gasket covers.
Key Responsibilities- Operate production machinery according to prints and specifications.
- Produce the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
- Measure finished parts with precision tools to ensure compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
- Maintain logs and records of units produced.
- Report errors that result in rejected or discarded pieces.
- Inspect equipment prior to use, ensure proper setup and alignment, and perform basic adjustments and maintenance.
- Keep the work area clean, safe, and orderly; follow safety regulations.
- Mix compound to proper viscosity; set up the rubber gasket machine for correct diameter and material.
- Retrieve skid covers, spray compound into the groove, and place covers on the oven conveyor with spacers.
- Slide stacks of covers into the oven and monitor compound thickness to meet specifications.
- Remove covers from the oven, stack them on a skid, and truck the completed covers to storage.
- Remove minor jams, report irregularities to the supervisor, and remove defective gasket from the cover for cleaning or re‑use.
- Report any improper functioning of the machine or unsatisfactory quality of the product to the supervisor immediately.
- Clean compound guns and lines at the end of each run.
- Visually inspect covers and gasket material, discarding any defective items.
- Meet production standards set for the area and perform additional detail duties necessary to meet production requirements.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner per the Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
High school diploma (or equivalent) with up to 2 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge and Skills- Willingness to follow directions and work well in a team.
- Ability to interpret and translate job specifications for production machinery.
- Fundamental understanding of, or the ability to learn quickly, production equipment.
Hourly pay of $23.05, with potential eligibility for a short‑term incentive.
