Technician, General Maintenance
Primary Purpose:
Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks to ensure district facilities and equipment are maintained in a safe, functional, and efficient manner. Assist with repairs, preventative maintenance, and special projects district wide inside and out while supporting the operational needs of the district.
Education/Certification:
- GED/High School Diploma, preferred
- Valid Texas Driver's License; must be insurable by district's insurance carrier
- Knowledge of general maintenance and repair practices
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools and maintenance equipment
- Ability to read and follow work order, instructions, and safety procedures
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Four years experience in general maintenance, construction, building trades or related field (preferred)

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Small hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools; light truck or van
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district wide travel
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress, ability to communicate effectively (verbal)
Salary Information:
Pay Grade: Manual Trades Pay Grade 3, 250 Days
Min: $14.10/hour
Mid: $16.94/hour
Salary based on job-related experience.
Other Information:
The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
