Position Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for the daily dispatching and planning for the LNA private fleet and third-party carriers.
Responsibilities & Expectations- Safety and Compliance
:
Ensures that the company fleet operates within all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). company guidelines. Presents a commitment to quality, service and safety, while always upholding Lhoist core values. - Load Planning and Scheduling
:
Performs dispatching activities, including daily load planning and scheduling for the private fleet and third-party carriers. Works with the Fleet Manager regarding driver availability, drivers’ hours of service, and equipment availability. Performs data entry for customer order creation and intracompany orders. - Customer Service
:
Interacts with internal and external customers, along with third party carriers. Proactively settles issues before they impact the customer using logical and creative problem-solving. Confirms orders for the following day by calling and/or emailing customers. Involved in total quality process and continuous improvement of customer confidence by knowing the customer’s demands for sizing, quality, and quantity in relation to inventory.
Must show a customer centric mentality, with a spirit of service approach on a daily basis. - Other duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and fleet equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Current computer skills in Microsoft applications, SAP, and search engine online programs.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Behavioral competencies include tolerance for stress, practical learning, adaptability, multi‑tasking, teamwork, planning, and organizing.
- Extremely dependable; excellent attendance and complete customer focus.
- Ability to work Monday – Friday from 6am – 4pm, and be on call after hours (occasional evenings and every other weekend per month).
Will be working most of the times in an office environment. Required actions include standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, typing, and sitting. Ability to lift over 15 pounds as needed.
EducationHigh School Diploma, GED Equivalent.
ExperienceRequired:
3-5 years of dispatching and customer service experience.
Preferred: AP experience, experience with e‑logs & GPS tracking.
