Position: School Crossing Guard

• Minimum 18 years of age
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to follow verbal instructions
• Ability to communicate with children and adults

Responsible for the safety of school children crossing major roadways at designated areas in the district.

Guarantee of 4 hours per day (2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon)

• Assist students in crossing assigned roadway’s safely
• Maintain discipline at the crossing site in a positive, caring manner
• Maintain a courteous attitude with motorists at assigned crossing site(s)
• Report accidents and/or injuries immediately to the transportation supervisor
• Wear and maintain the regulation reflective vest
• Place traffic cones/stop signs at assigned roadway crossings

Tools/Equipment Used:
Handheld traffic signs, traffic cones, reflective safety attire

Prolong standing

Motion:
Constant walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching

Lifting:
Light lifting (less than 15 pounds)

Environment:
Work outside, prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures, sunlight, humidity; constant exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust; work around moving vehicles on slippery and uneven surfaces

Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under pressure; work with frequent interruptions; may work alone

The district contributes $400 per month to the cost of employee only health insurance, which is $175 per month greater than the state required amount of $225 per month.

Position Type: Part‑Time

Salary: $11.22 to $15.70 per hour

Pay Grade: Manual Trades, Pay Grade 1, 176 days
