Para educator/Special Education II
Under the direction of the school site principal or designee and the general oversight of the Special Education Department, the Para educator/Special Education II will assist certificated staff in reinforcing instruction related to the education, physical care, behavior and recreational activities of students who exhibit developmental, behavioral or emotional difficulties. The Para educator/Special Education II may be assigned to a special education classroom or to a general education classroom.
Assistance is generally provided to a small group of students; however, the Para educator/Special Education II may also be assigned to one-on-one assistance as required to meet the needs of individual students. The type of physical assistance provided depends upon the disabilities of the students to whom the Para educator/Special Education II is assigned, and may include assistance with one or more of the following: ambulation, transfers, personal care (toileting, diapering, dressing, grooming, feeding), accessing and storing materials and supplies, and using therapeutic equipment.
This position generally supports students who may be eligible for special education or receive services in areas such as Medically Fragile, Developmentally Disabled, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Emotionally Disturbed, Intellectually Disabled, Autism, Visually Impaired and Orthopedically Handicapped.
Education and Training

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing
Required:
- Must participate in district approved behavior intervention training, including physical restraint training within 6 months of hire. The employee must recertify in this training every two years.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
- Copy of Transcript (Copy of College Transcript Or Copy of College degree.)
