Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Coordinator, ED - Emergency Department - $47-73 per hour

Position Details

Tenet Desert is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Coordinator for the Emergency Department in La Quinta, California.

• Type:
Full‑time staff

• Shift: Night, 1900–0730



Hours:

36 per week (12‑hour shifts), 6 shifts per two‑week pay period. Some weekend shifts required.

Position Description

The Emergency Department Clinical Coordinator oversees throughput of patients, ensuring timely, efficient, and organized care. The Coordinator investigates and resolves complaints from patients, visitors, staff, and physicians, and advises management on administrative decisions. The Coordinator provides direction during crisis and supports staff in challenging situations.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with expeditious processing of patient care services (lab results, admissions, transportation, transfer to floor, communication with ancillary personnel).
  • Work collaboratively with ED physicians; serve as liaison among nurses, physicians, patients, and family members.
  • Provide clinical resource and support; interpret patient information and make practical decisions.
  • Understand growth and development; determine age‑appropriate treatment approaches.
  • Participate in human resources management: assist in evaluation, counseling, hiring, orientation, and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain job performance standards and competencies for staff; complete timely evaluations and documentation.
  • Counsel and discipline staff appropriately.
  • Assume interview responsibilities for new hires.
  • Maintain open communication on organizational, national healthcare, and professional issues.
  • Use patient classification system to forecast nursing care needs by shift; document trends and patterns.
  • Support staff development and cross‑training; assist with implementation.
  • Support risk management, safety, and infection control programs.
  • Monitor Year‑to‑Date compliance with labor hour benchmarks and supply cost controls.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental interactions and implement process improvement (PI) initiatives.
  • Assist Director in developing department goals, strategic plans, and achieving budgeted costs.
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities through labor and supply efficiency and report to Director.
  • Maintain personal knowledge and expertise in Emergency/Trauma field.
  • Integrate process improvement into daily operations.
Competencies
  • California RN License
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification (current at all times)
  • American Heart Association ACLS Certification (current at all times)
  • PALS certification
  • MICN within 6‑9 months of hire
  • AB‑508 Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within six months of hire
  • ENPC, TNCC, and CEN preferred
