- Leads physical and systemic automation projects to support continuous process improvements.
- Responsible for the setup and integration of automated equipment into the production processes.
- Responsible for evaluating current processes and developing and implementing process improvements to ensure optimal efficiency and quality.
- Validate and test process effectiveness and improvements using engineering techniques, design of experiments, data analysis, and statistical analysis.
- Provide leadership in customer quality and efficiency efforts by working with support teams to improve cycle times and reduce defects.
- Ensure proper documentation such as process flows, work instructions (WIs), troubleshooting guidelines and equipment manuals exist and are up to date for all automated equipment used.
- Perform Cost Analysis and provide Cost Improvement ideas related to automation.
- Train appropriate personnel in all aspects of automation, including processes, procedures, safety, and automated equipment.
- Continuous Improvement – drive quality improvement, productivity improvement, scrap reduction, and other cost reduction efforts through process improvement initiatives.
- Utilize technology to improve, streamline and automate manufacturing processes.
- Plan, implement, set up and monitor equipment used to automate manufacturing processes.
- Develop and design automation concepts, choose and program a controller, and ensure proper communication between actuators connected to the controller; simulate, install, test and manage electrical or mechanical automation, and monitor the automation processes on an ongoing basis.
- Develop measures of process control.
- Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance procedures.
- Identify process capabilities and limitations and make recommendations and implement process improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering or related field.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of related manufacturing or industry experience with automated assembling equipment.
- PC skills including Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, AutoCAD or related software.

- Must possess strong leadership skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees.
- Must be a team player who can work efficiently under minimal supervision.
- Ability to function and execute in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Small component electro/mechanical manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Occasional travel, sometimes to Asia, is required.
- Knowledge of development and improvement of work processes related to electro-mechanical assemblies is a plus.
- Knowledge of design and implementation of engineering experiments.
- Detail oriented.
- Analytical abilities.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Self-motivated with ability to use own initiative.
- Flexibility to change direction frequently and with little notice.
- Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Able to stand, stoop and bend.
- Ability to walk and stand on cement floors for long periods.
- Able to work in a warehouse environment with no central heat or air.
- Able to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours daily.
- Able to use a telephone for prolonged periods, up to 8 hours daily.
- Able to operate a pallet jack and/or forklift.
- Fast paced with multi-level distractions.
- Professional, yet casual work environment.
