Description
The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing production schedules to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time while maintaining appropriate inventory levels. This role serves as a key liaison between procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient flow of materials and resources throughout the production process. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive in identifying and resolving scheduling or supply chain challenges.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain production schedules that balance customer demand, inventory targets, and manufacturing capacity.
- Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of materials, components, and equipment.
- Monitor daily production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address delays, capacity changes, or shifts in customer demand.
- Analyze capacity and resource constraints to optimize production efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve scheduling conflicts, improve communication, and enhance workflow.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production data, inventory levels, and work orders.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase planning accuracy, reduce waste, and improve operational performance.
- Support new product introductions by integrating planning requirements into production timelines and launch schedules.
- Generate reports and performance metrics related to production planning, material availability, and on-time delivery.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in production planning, materials management, or a related manufacturing role.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably Net Suite) and planning tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; experience with forecasting or capacity modeling preferred.

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional time spent on the production floor to review scheduling, workflow, and progress.
