As a Tooling Maintenance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring our production floor operates at peak efficiency by fabricating, repairing, and maintaining complex metalworking dies, jigs, and fixtures. You will leverage your expertise in precision machining and blueprint interpretation to support engineering initiatives and optimize manufacturing output.
About the RoleAs a Tooling Maintenance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring our production floor operates at peak efficiency by fabricating, repairing, and maintaining complex metalworking dies, jigs, and fixtures. You will leverage your expertise in precision machining and blueprint interpretation to support engineering initiatives and optimize manufacturing output.
Responsibilities- Construct, repair, and maintain high-precision tooling, dies, and fixtures to support seamless production cycles.
- Operate advanced machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to produce accurate prototypes and components.
- Collaborate directly with engineering teams to troubleshoot tooling issues and implement design modifications that enhance performance.
- Analyze technical blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine optimal material requirements and machining sequences.
- Provide expert technical guidance to production staff and fellow machinists to resolve complex setup challenges.
- Perform rigorous quality inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify that all components meet exact tolerances and alignment standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a tool and die or precision machining environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate standard machine shop tools.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet demanding production schedules.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship or possession of a Journeyman’s card.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software or advanced CNC programming.
- Demonstrated ability to suggest design improvements for tooling longevity and functionality.
