Chromalox is part of Spirax Group and provides advanced thermal technologies for industrial heating applications.

Role

The Quality Technician will create documentation and perform sampling, testing, calibration/verification, and in–process auditing activities. They will maintain records for calibrated instruments and defective equipment reports. Additionally, the role includes requesting quotes for equipment repair, writing purchase requests for equipment and services, developing and maintaining quality metrics and records, performing preventive maintenance tasks for lab equipment, and liaising between QA and Production departments.

This position is located in La Vergne, Tennessee.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and assist in processing Material Return Authorizations (MRAs).
  • Independently observe, measure, test, analyze, and inspect raw materials and finished products to ensure specifications are met.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in identifying non-conformance causes and in dispositioning non-conformances using technical research skills.
  • Complete Non-Conforming Material Reports.
  • Use test equipment such as multimeter, thermogravimetric analyzer, differential scanning calorimeter, moisture analyzer, melt flow indexer, tensile tester, precision scales, HiPot tester, and megohm meter to verify functional conformance of products and components.
  • Use generalized or specific QC/Engineering test instructions, procedures, schematics, and layout drawings to check, test, and inspect components and finished products.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, and pin/plug gauges to inspect dimensional parameters and verify instruments.
  • Complete required portions of inspection forms and reports while performing inspection and test procedures.
Requirements
  • At least 2+ years of professional experience; formal trade or technical school experience preferred.
  • Proven experience reviewing numerical calculations, reading and understanding technical instructions, and interpreting technical drawings, tables, and graphs.
  • Proven experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Prior experience with test equipment.
  • Prior knowledge of mechanical measuring gauges.
  • Prior experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
