Role Description

T-9 Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a full time, onsite Sales Estimator to join our team in La Verne, CA. This position is responsible for reviewing bid invitations, analyzing plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, preparing detailed estimates, and developing competitive proposals for demolition and grading projects.

The ideal candidate must have direct experience estimating demolition, grading, earthwork, or closely related scopes of work. This is not an entry level position. We are looking for someone who understands construction plans, civil drawings, demolition scopes, grading quantities, trucking, disposal, equipment needs, production factors, subcontractor pricing, and how to put together a complete and accurate proposal.

The Sales Estimator will work closely with ownership, project managers, field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and customers to clarify scope, gather pricing, identify exclusions, and ensure bids are complete and accurate. Daily responsibilities include reviewing bid opportunities, performing takeoffs, preparing estimates, writing proposals, tracking bid status, following up with customers, maintaining estimating information, and supporting the handoff from bid to project execution.

This role is well suited for someone who is organized, detail oriented, self motivated, and comfortable working in a small company environment where each person is expected to manage their responsibilities and contribute to the overall success of the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review plans, specifications, bid invitations, addenda, and project documents to determine project scope.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for demolition, grading, excavation, export, import, crushing, and related scopes of work.
  • Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates, including labor, equipment, trucking, disposal, materials, subcontractors, and production assumptions.
  • Develop clear written proposals with accurate scope descriptions, inclusions, exclusions, qualifications, and pricing.
  • Identify potential scope gaps, risks, conflicts, or unclear project requirements before submitting bids.
  • Communicate with general contractors, developers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal team members to gather information and clarify project requirements.
  • Track active bids, follow up with customers, and support sales efforts to secure new work.
  • Maintain estimating records, pricing information, bid logs, and historical cost data.
  • Assist with project handoff after award to ensure the operations team understands the estimate, scope, assumptions, and proposal details.
  • Support process improvements that help improve estimating accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
  • Direct experience estimating demolition, grading, earthwork, civil construction, or closely related scopes of work.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, civil drawings, specifications, bid instructions, and addenda.
  • Strong understanding of demolition and grading operations, including equipment, trucking, disposal, import, export, site logistics, and production rates.
  • Experience performing accurate quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed cost estimates.
  • Ability to write clear proposals with proper scope, exclusions, clarifications, and pricing.
  • Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids at the same time.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize deadlines, and take ownership of assigned bids.
