Job Description Summary
The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides academic support across all majors and disciplines with the goal of helping students become engaged, self-sufficient learners who are confident in their abilities to reach their goals. ASC Academic Coaches are undergraduate or graduate students at ULV who focus on the holistic student and provide support for individuals, not solely their academics. Coaches assist with enhancing academic habits, finding balance among obligations, long‑term planning and goal‑setting, managing academic anxiety, and achieving personal and academic success.
They participate in weekly training sessions which equip them to create coaching experiences that serve as learning opportunities while also boosting students confidence.
- A strong academic background (minimum overall GPA of 3.25).
- Self‑motivation, self‑regulation, and a desire to mature and learn in a professional teaching/learning environment.
- Ability to listen to the needs of students, communicate effectively, and work cooperatively in setting realistic and productive goals that promote student success.
- Sensitivity to the diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds of ASC students.
- Dependability, personal accountability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
- Desire to support peers’ social and emotional wellness, as well as their academic and professional endeavors.
- Must be a current ULV student.
- Previous academic support experience, particularly in supporting students with documented disabilities.
- Previous tutoring experience.
- Leadership experience and campus involvement.
We offer flexible work hours, based on the student worker’s availability. This position will require 8–10 hours per week. This is an on‑campus position.
