Director of Forensics – University of La Verne

Job Description Summary

The Rhetoric and Communication Studies Department seeks a full‑time, non‑tenure track Director of Forensics to administer and coach the Speech & Debate Team and teach RCS courses each semester. The director will promote the program on campus, enhance the team’s national and international reputation, oversee scholarship selection, manage the team office, and coordinate travel for regional, national, and international competitions.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and coach the Speech & Debate Team across competitions.
  • Teach RCS courses each semester.
  • Promote the forensics program on campus and externally.
  • Sponsor and manage the Performance Scholarship selection process.
  • Manage the Speech & Debate Team office and administrative functions.
  • Organize and accompany all team travel regionally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Adjudicate and coach in competitive Forensics formats, including WUCD (British Parliamentary).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Human Communication Studies, Speech Communication, or a related field.
  • Coaching experience with NAFA, AFA, or WUCD–sanctioned intervarsity competitions.
  • Applied knowledge of an LMS (e.g., Blackboard, D2L, Canvas, Moodle).
  • Strong pedagogical skills for both virtual and face‑to‑face instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate teaching experience in the field.

Salary Range

Minimum: $70,304 – Maximum: $73,144.28
