Job Description

The Department of Modern Languages is seeking a part-time instructor of Japanese, to begin August 23, 2021. The position will entail teaching Elementary and Intermediate Japanese language courses, with the possibility of advanced language, culture, and literature courses, as needed, either as regularly scheduled classes or directed studies. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence and a sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.

• A Master’s degree in a Humanities discipline and native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English are required.

• College-level teaching experience and familiarity with current communicative, proficiency and/or task-based methodologies are highly desirable; preference will be given to candidates who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
