Water Purification Unit Manager

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking a Water Purification Unit Manager. The salary range is $1,541.70 - $2,017.18 annually. The position is located in La Verne, CA, 91750 and is a full-time regular job with a continuous closing date.

The Water Purification Unit Manager is responsible for managing and supervising all water purification functions. This includes ensuring water quality regulatory compliance and consumer satisfaction through improved source water quality, optimizing existing treatment and distribution processes, and development of future treatment options.

This position manages all activities related to water quality regulatory compliance, examines source water quality and investigates proposed changes in the watersheds to improve the quality of the raw water entering the treatment plants, and sets operational criteria for both near-term operations and long-term planning to ensure regulatory compliance. This position will provide process design criteria when a capital facility is in the planning stages to ensure water quality goals are achieved, and examine new drinking water regulations and emerging water quality issues to determine options to address these concerns.

The Water Purification Unit Manager will direct two teams responsible for operations and engineering compliance associated with Metropolitan's treatment plants that have a combined capacity of 2.3 billion gallons of water per day. He or she will look at innovative ways to optimize processes (combined with operational reality) with the goal of even greater reliability and cost effectiveness in operations.

Schedule:

9/80, Monday through Friday with every other Friday off.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or equivalent and twelve years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which four years must have been in a management or supervisory position; or an advanced degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or equivalent and ten years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which four years must have been in a management or supervisory position.

Certifications, licenses, and registration requirements include a valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent and a license in good standing as a California Professional Engineer (Civil preferred) or equivalent from another state. Employees in this position will also be required to obtain and maintain the State Water Resources Control Board Grade T2 Water Treatment Operator Certification.
