Information Systems Technician

Join Our Team!

The City is seeking a customer-focused and technically skilled Information Systems Technician to join our Information Systems team. In this role, you'll provide hands‑on technical support for a wide range of technology systems that keep City operations running efficiently. From maintaining computer hardware and software to supporting network infrastructure, telecommunications, mobile devices, and enterprise applications, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional technology services to City departments.

This position also provides specialized support to our Police and Fire Departments, assisting with public safety technology such as mobile computing, body‑worn camera systems, digital evidence platforms, Emergency Operations Center (EOC) technology, and other mission‑critical systems. Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical duties related to the installation, configuration, maintenance, support, and operation of computer systems, network infrastructure, software applications, telecommunications systems, and related technology equipment. Provides technical assistance and customer support to City staff, including Police and Fire personnel, and assists with technology projects, system upgrades, and operational support functions. Performs related duties as assigned.

General supervision is provided by the Information Systems Specialist or designee.

The ideal candidate is a motivated IT professional with strong technical knowledge, outstanding customer service skills, and a passion for problem‑solving. They thrive in a collaborative environment, communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical users, and can confidently troubleshoot a variety of hardware, software, networking, and systems issues.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Experience supporting enterprise‑level computer systems, networks, and technology infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure, cloud technologies, networking, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • The ability to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, mobile devices, telecommunications equipment, and related technology.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments while providing excellent customer service.
  • The initiative to work independently while collaborating effectively with coworkers, vendors, and City departments.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality, exercising sound judgment, and responding to operational technology needs, including occasional after‑hours support.

Experience supporting public safety technology within a municipal environment is highly desirable but not required.

Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.

  • Assisting end users regarding computer systems, mobile devices, applications, and technology‑related issues.
  • Analyze and resolve hardware, software, network, connectivity, and system‑related problems.
  • Provide user training and guidance regarding approved hardware, software, and technology procedures.
  • Assist with the maintenance and support of wireless systems, telecommunications equipment, and related technology resources.
  • Perform system monitoring, maintenance, and updates.
  • Document technical support requests, inventory records, procedures, and system changes.
  • Assist with the implementation, deployment, and support of technology projects and system upgrades.
  • Support audiovisual systems, printers, mobile computing devices, cameras, and other specialized technology equipment as assigned.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and outside agencies regarding technology‑related services and support. Maintain effective working relationships with City staff and departments. Perform related duties as assigned.
