Senior Classroom Technology Design Engineer

Location:

La Verne, CA
- Fully onsite, with limited travel to other local campuses. Company vehicle available. Valid driver's license required. KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a Senior Classroom Technology Design Engineer
- Extron & AV-over-IP; may accept Crestron in lieu of Extron. The Senior Classroom Technology Engineer serves as the senior technical lead for classroom and instructional technology support, ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, design, and continuous improvement of classroom A/V and presentation systems across the institution. This position will play a key role in modernizing and standardizing approximately 120 classrooms across four campuses, including standard, hybrid, and multi-location instructional environments.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, firmware/software updates, and repairs on audiovisual and instructional technology systems to maximize reliability and extend equipment life.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and repair classroom technology systems and related digital and analog audiovisual equipment in centrally supported instructional spaces.
  • Respond to urgent classroom incidents and coordinate timely resolution within established SLAs to minimize disruption to instruction.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex classroom technology issues and troubleshoot control systems, DSPs, cabling, terminations, racks, displays, projectors, microphones, cameras, speakers, and audio/video distribution systems.
  • Monitor classroom technology systems using available monitoring and ticketing tools and coordinate with desktop support, networking, and other technical teams as necessary.
  • Serve as the institution's internal classroom A/V subject-matter expert and provide senior technical leadership for classroom technology design, support, and modernization.
Operational Lead for Classroom Technology Support
  • Serve as the operational lead for classroom technology support by assigning and prioritizing work, coordinating coverage during instructional hours, assisting with standard operating procedures, and supporting the onboarding and training of team members or student workers.
  • Partner with networking, desktop support, academic technology, facilities, and other internal resources to resolve classroom issues and support classroom technology projects.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of classroom support procedures, operational standards, and service practices.
Training and Support
  • Provide training, instruction, classroom walkthroughs, and one-on-one support to faculty, staff, and other users on the operation and effective use of classroom technology systems.
  • Work directly with faculty and stakeholders to understand instructional use cases and translate those needs into practical classroom technology solutions.
  • Provide usage guidance and best-practice support for classroom, hybrid-learning, Zoom, Teams, and related instructional technologies.
  • Support classroom environments in which courses may be taught simultaneously across multiple locations, helping ensure an inclusive and consistent experience for students at each location.
  • Develop and maintain user-friendly user guides, standard operating procedures, troubleshooting resources, and internal documentation related to classroom technology services.
Modernization and Standardization
  • Assist with classroom technology refreshes, equipment replacement planning, lifecycle tracking, and the broader modernization and standardization of classroom systems.
  • Evaluate existing classroom configurations and recommend improvements that enhance reliability, usability, consistency, and support for instruction.
  • Develop classroom technology standards and design recommendations based on faculty needs, instructional use cases, and current A/V technologies.
  • Provide primary design input to external A/V integrators and communicate the institution's technical, functional, and instructional requirements.
  • Review and validate integrator designs, recommendations, and completed work to ensure alignment with institutional standards and classroom use cases.
  • Support the design and testing of standard, hybrid, lecture, and multi-location classroom environments.
  • Support installation, setup, configuration, and testing of new classroom technology equipment, digital signage, and related instructional systems.
  • Help modernize classroom connectivity, including the transition to current standards such as USB-C.
Inventory and Documentation
  • Maintain accurate inventory, lifecycle, service, and repair records for classroom technology assets, replacement parts, and support requests.
  • Maintain relevant technical documentation for classroom configurations, standards, equipment, and completed work.
