Job Description Summary
Student employees in the Game Management department are tasked with a range of responsibilities related to hosting home intercollegiate athletic events. These duties include assisting with the preparation and disassembly of facilities and equipment for sporting competitions, as well as managing various aspects of game day operations such as field maintenance, in-game management, community engagement, photography, videography, multimedia design, and marketing.
Leadership opportunities are also available for students in supervisory roles.
Specific Duties
- Attend mandatory orientation and scheduled job trainings. Saturdays will be required shifts during the fall season so please plan accordingly.
- Student workers will be trained in all positions for each season. GM positions include but are not limited to: officiate stats keeping, shot clock and scoreboard (training provided), PA announcer, on field/court crew, video production, live stream, video record, play by play broadcasting, photography, multimedia design, marketing team, fan experience team.
- Seasonal sports include; football, soccer, volleyball, cross country, golf, basketball, swim and dive, water polo, baseball, softball and track and field.
- Must be a current University of La Verne student.
- Must have a FWS award for the 2025/2026 academic year.
- Basic knowledge of sports and sports equipment.
- Ability to lift and transport equipment. Good communication skills and willingness to learn new skills.
- Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, sexual preference/identity, physical limitations, class or religious perspectives.
- Ability to work with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
- Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change.
- Willingness to learn sporting rules and guidelines.
- Previous experience with athletics and game day operations.
Employees are eligible for the following benefits:
One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan - can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.
In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.
Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
