Lifeguard – Parks & Recreation (Part‑time Seasonal Employee)
PAY RATE: $17.74 – $20.54 Hourly
HOURS: Up to 28 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, 6:30 AM – 8:00 PM

CERTIFICATES
REQUIRED:
American Red Cross CPR/AED/Basic First Aid Certificate and Advanced Lifesaving (Lifeguarding) Certificate
- Observe pool users and ensure compliance with all rules and regulations.
- Remove participants from dangerous and/or life‑threatening situations.
- Administer basic first aid, if necessary.
- Perform routine pool and building maintenance as required.
- Provide information to participants and members of the public.
- Perform other related work as required.
- At least 15 years of age.
- Advanced swimming ability.
- Ability to interact effectively with aquatics participants, supervisors, and other employees.
- Reliable transportation.
- Willing and able to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and July 4.
Applicants whose qualifications most closely match the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in the examination process, which will include the following:
- Application Screening – Qualifying
- Appraisal Interview – 100%
- Background Investigation – Qualifying
Candidates who receive a passing score at the appraisal interview will be placed on an eligibility list. Prior to appointment applicants will be required to successfully complete a drug screening. Health Insurance and MedicareUnder Federal law, employees must contribute 1.45% of their gross monthly earnings for Medicare coverage. The City will match the employee's contribution.
