Summary: JAG Nebraska Specialists are teachers and educators, advocates for students, and caring mentors. Specialists teach a for-credit elective class for middle school and high school students and guide them through a project-based curriculum to develop life, career, and academic skills. They implement the JAG Nebraska model with integrity, support students, collaborate with school staff, and represent the organization’s values while building relationships with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction in a program that increases graduation rates and post‑graduation outcomes such as employment and further education.
  • Build and maintain relationships with school administrators, teachers, community leaders, and business partners.
  • Teach the JAG curriculum using the JAG Advantage framework (Project Based Learning, Trauma Informed Care, and Employer Engagement).
  • Communicate professionally and efficiently with school teams, community leaders, and JAG Nebraska leadership.
  • Request and secure resources, manage grant and partnership obligations, and maintain compliance and documentation in JAG Force.
  • Recruit students in partnership with the school advisory committee.
  • Document student progress toward state and national performance goals using JAG Force.
  • Complete all quality assurance measures and meet deadlines to ensure compliance with funding and accreditation requirements.
  • Implement Individualized Development Plans (IDP) for all students on JAG Nebraska class rosters.
  • Monitor attendance, academic performance, course enrollment, and progress toward graduation and career goals.
  • Facilitate student engagements, including summer opportunities and statewide events.
  • Participate in school staff meetings, regional and statewide education meetings, and staff development activities.
  • Transport or chaperone students for JAG National events as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Model professionalism, integrity, and commitment to personal and academic growth for students.
  • Create and perform local employer engagement events based on student interests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with UWM and school policies, standards, and expectations.

Required

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
  • Available to work 12 months per year.
  • Accurately enter, analyze, and verify data reports for funding requirements.
  • Represent UWM and JAG Nebraska during community and stakeholder meetings.
  • Plan and execute lesson plans and activities strategically throughout each school year.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and strong commitment to UWM and JAG Nebraska success.
  • Work independently in the classroom, teaching and supervising students for extended periods.
  • Set appropriate boundaries while fostering supportive student–family relationships.
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form and give formal and informal presentations.
  • Comply with Nebraska CTE requirements and implement project‑based curriculum aligned with JAG goals.
  • Hold a current, valid driver’s license for school and conference travel.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (focus on education, social services, counseling, or business preferred).
  • Within 90 days, obtain the Nebraska Department of Education teaching permit.
  • Complete Human Relations Training and, if required, the Nebraska Fingerprint Card Process upon hiring.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional lifting or moving up to 20 pounds.
  • Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
  • Work environment noise is usually moderate.
  • Mobility to move around classrooms and school grounds.
