Join the Educational Service Unit #3 (ESU3) Brook Valley North School Alternative Program as a Certified Classroom Teacher. You will work closely with small groups of students, creating and maintaining individualized education programs (IEPs) that address each student’s unique needs. A background in special education is preferred but not required, and you will collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and outside agencies to support students returning to the local school district.
EssentialRequirements
- No history of child abuse or negligence.
- Nebraska Teaching Certificate.
- BA/BS in Special Education or related field.
- Successfully pass required background checks.
- Regular and dependable in‑person attendance.
- Understand and comply with ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies, Employee Handbook, and Brook Valley School policies.
- Assist teachers, counselors, and administrators in planning support systems for students returning to local school districts.
- Assist attendance offices in preparing truancy information for county Attorney’s prosecutions.
- Maintain standards of conduct and ethics set by the Nebraska Department of Education.
- Maintain a confidential record‑keeping system for student progress and final reports.
- Attend meetings with outside agencies when appropriate.
- Advocate for the school with students and families.
- Develop remedial programs for identified student weaknesses.
- Communicate with parents about Individual Educational Programs for students with verified special education disabilities.
- Develop working relationships with paraprofessionals and communicate needs to building administrators.
- Maintain records and files required by Nebraska Department of Education Rule 51.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve professional skills.
- Utilize supplemental instructional materials in student programs.
- Provide direct instruction in behavioral/academic methodologies to paraprofessionals.
- Develop behavior‑management programs according to student needs.
- Provide own transportation to fulfill job duties.
- Maintain an inventory of classroom supplies and equipment.
- Support health‑related activities and daily living activities.
- Demonstrate professional conduct, maintain confidentiality, and pursue professional growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Staff must be fully capable of performing the essential physical responsibilities detailed in Exhibit A. They cannot return to work until they can demonstrate such capability, as determined by a qualified medical professional and agreed to by the ESU #3 Administrator.
Compensation and BenefitsCompetitive benefits package includes health and dental coverage at no cost to the employee and an annual health‑insurance stipend of $11,478.50. Salary details are available in the 25‑26 Teacher Salary Schedule.
