Description of Work

Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards, this position is responsible for the various elements of student conduct investigations and related procedures. The Student Conduct Specialist oversees investigations related to the standards of academic integrity and responsible conduct allegations for all UNL students. Position provides prompt, equitable, and impartial investigations into allegations regarding violations of the Student Code of Conduct;

meeting with students who have allegedly violated the Student Code of Conduct; meeting with witnesses, complainants, and/or victims to gather information and evidence; and determining educational outcomes. Gathers and assesses evidence relevant to the investigation and identifies University policies and/or Student Code of Conduct provisions relevant to a referral. Coordinates education, prevention, and training efforts. Participates in presenting information to Conduct Board Hearings.

Responsible for keeping current in the field of student conduct investigations by participating in conferences, workshops, and professional training.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and minimum two years of experience working with student conduct investigations. Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information. Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem solving techniques, interviewing and investigation. Demonstrated ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges, including the ability to handle issues of complex and extreme sensitivity.

Skill in writing concise, logical analytical reports to convey complex issues. Strong and effective interpersonal skills; the ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs. Demonstrated commitment to success in working with constituencies, both domestic and international, to support the campus environment. Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with staff at all levels at the University.

Preferred Qualifications
